– Team Championship leaders and close to taking triple lead
The weekend saw the premiere of the new TTA - Racing Elite League. The expectations were high and the spectators turned up in large numbers. Volvo Polestar had full house in the VIP lounge as well as in the car exhibition with local Volvo dealer Helmia Bil.
But the real drama was on track. The qualifying session, where twelve drivers were within eight tenths, saw Volvo drivers Ekblom, Dahlgren, Björk and Rustad in second, fourth, seventh and eleventh respectively.
The drama was turned up even further for Volvo Polestar in the race. The two black Volvo Polestar Black R cars retired early on - Dahlgren got a clutch problem in the start and Rustad collided not long after with a competitor that had spun on track.
Volvo Polestar goes for victory in TTA – the Elite Racing Series
The first race in the TTA-series will take place this weekend at the Karlskoga Motor Stadium. Expectations run high both on and within Volvo Polestar with a completely new technical regulation, new race car and four drivers in two different own teams. One of the teams, Volvo Polestar Racing, with blue S60 cars and drivers Thed Björk and Fredrik Ekblom, will thereby challenge not only BMW, SAAB and Citroën, but also the Volvo Polestar Black R team with Robert Dahlgren and Tommy Rustad in black S60 cars.
Wind tunnel test for TTA-cars ahead of Racing Elite League 2012 season
All TTA cars from BMW, Citroën, Saab and Volvo were tested in Volvo's wind tunnel in Gothenburg, Sweden, ahead of the 2012 season start of the TTA - Racing Elite League. The test was made in order to analyze and equal the aerodynamic values of the cars as well as analyzing the cooling of the cars. Volvos new racing livery for TTA - the Racing Elite Series, is revealed
With the new Swedish racing series, TTA - Elite Racing Series, premiering on May 12 at Karlskoga, Volvo launched its new S60 race car for partners, employees and members of the press, earlier this week.
